Since 2009, the retirement home of Shot On Site Photography... the source of the finest sighthound performance images in the world. As of August 1, 2022, the blog will become much more photo-centric. Not only will I post images from the homestead in the foothills of the Little Florida Mountains, and surrounding environs, but also tips about shooting, editing, archiving, software, hardware and more. The political rants will become few and far between (but not eliminated! It is 2022 after all!)

Not A Couple.
Ever wonder what would happen if your dog jumped a jackrabbit when a large bird of prey was in proximity? Would the bird, (in this case a handsome Prairie Falcon) join in the pursuit? Would it steal the prey? I wondered the same thing!
I’ll keep on wondering, too, because the falcon flew off just a second after I snapped this image, and a good half hour before we finally jumped a hare. Ah, what might have been.

years ago on the Cthe hounds were on a clever hare who lost them in cover w/the hare going left & hounds right or straight. an eagle was sitting on the pole watching and he took off after the hare! don't know if he got it tho.
ReplyDeleteNice! I think I told you the tale of the wild prairie falcon and the 4 jacks she and several sighthounds killed? That was last February, and the falcon took out three of the four, she was in it for play because she didn't take possession of any of the kills.
